Diversity Visa Lottery Program (Stage 1)

Stage 1; October - December: Electronic Entry

Important Basic Diversity Visa Requirements:

The law creating Diversity Immigrant Visa Program (DV Program) states that to qualify for a diversity visa, you must have a high school education, or its equivalent, or two years of work experience. A high school education means successfull completion of a formal course of elementary and secondary education comparable to 12-year course in the United States. If you are qualifying with work experience, you must have two years of experience in the last five years in an occupation which, by U.S. Department of Labor definitions, requires at least two years of training or experience.

If you do not have either the required education or qualifying work experience, you are not eligible to be issued a Divesity Visa. Only you, as the principal applicant, must meet this requirement. Your spouse and children do not have to meet this requirement. Do not continue with this application if you do not meet the education and work experience requirement.

EDUCATION: Minimum Requirements

To qualify using education, you must have:
Graduated from Senior Secondary School and passed the WAECS/SSSCE with a minimum of 5 passes (including English and Math; and pass is a minimum of 'E'); and/or
Completed A-levels or O-levels; and/or
Earned an HND (High National Diploma); and/or
Received a University degree.

NOTE 1: Vocational training does not replace the above requirements. Vocational training alone does not meet the DV education requirement.

NOTE 2: For each subject, we consider the most recent exam score. For example if you failed English in 2001, the passed in 2003, we will accept the Pass in from 2003 because it is the most recent score. However, if you passed English in 2001, then failed in 2003, you will not qualify, since the most recent score is a Fail.

OCCUPATION: Minimum Requirements

To qualify based on your occupation:
You must work in an occupation that has received a score of 7 or higher according to the U.S. Department of Labor's classifications. A list of qualifying occupations is posted in the waiting room; please review the list before paying the visa fee. You can find a complete list of all occupations and their scores online at O*net online: http://online.onetcenter.org. Scores are found by searching for an occupation, then looking at the "SVP Score" found in the "Job Zone" for each job.
You must have worked for at least two years in a qualifying job during the last five years AND completed at least two years of training to prepare you for work in that job. For example, if you worked as a Head Cook (a qualifying job) from 1995 to 1997, but have been working as a peety trader since 1997, you would not qualify.
