Eyewitness Report
Diane, a cook at the Hungry Home Restaurant operating at the Cargo
D’or (Combined Farms), told Joy News that five kitchen staffs were
cooking when a tube connected to a gas cylinder got disconnected from
the valve.
She said owing to the fact that the stove had been lit, the leaking gas ignited.
Diane explained that they had switched off the gas regulator, and
employed the use of a fire extinguisher, in an attempt to
prevent acceleration of the flames, but it proved futile, resulting in
an explosion and rapid spread of the flames to other sections of the
restaurant.
In the face of the pandemonium, she said, two of the workers could
not immediately be traced, stating that one of the missing women
allegedly collapsed after inhaling the smoke from the fire while the
other sustained injuries on the leg.
Diane said both of them were rushed to the hospital where they were
responding to treatment. She claimed there were no other casualties
